I went out on my 14 foot camo jon boat at bryant’s grove when I forgot my life jacket at home. My uncle went back to get it and I fished next to the ramp for a few minutes. Last night I bought a bunch on spinnerbaits and I was determined to learn to fish them. I started casting a 1/2 ounce small profile double willow spinnerbait in white/chart.. Within 5 minutes I had a good one hooked. Right as I was about to boat swing him he got off and somehow hooked me in the hand almost past the barb. I got another that was 15.75″ before my uncle got back with the second life jacket. Since the motor is having problems again we had a trolling motor with 2 batteries in the boat. We got to my spot that had a gravel bank and I started using shaky heads and carolina rigs. I didn’t get bit so I casted the spinnerbait and I got a super chunky 15″ largemouth that I boated. I got a few other nonkeepers in a few hours so I decided to leave and try a new spot. It took me 30 minutes to row there (trolling motor was running out of battery) but I was rewarded with a 16.5″ chunk that slammed my spinnerbait in shallow water around chunk rock. The clouds started moving in by then so we had to troll back.

We took an hour break to eat so we launched at stewards creek boat ramp the second time around. It seemed this time everything went wrong. I missed 4 on a flea flicker jig in black and blue. I set the hook on one (a little nicer fish) and it jumped off right by the boat. We also got dumped on for about 10 minutes and we decided to wrap up the day after only a 3 hour trip in the end. I am fishing tommorow but I don’t know where yet. All the fish quality fish came on a H2O express 1/2 ounce small profile white/chart spinnerbait in double willow. No fish on a slow moving bait (which is surprising). I threw shaky heads, c rigged creatures, jigs, and t rigged creatures.

My brother and I fished Wednesday and caught a few in Savage Branch with a couple keepers and a 17 inch smallmouth. We caught 4 more on points and a roadbed just down lake from Hopson Pike with another keeper. We caught 3 more in Hamilton Creek and had a good one get off. Caught a couple more off a midlake island point that has a huge stump on it. We were Carolina rigging netbait paca craws and baby brushogs and caught them in 3 to 10 ft. We fished from 6:30 to 2:00.

I went out Saturday and caught 5 with one nice 17 inch keeper. Fished mouth of Hamilton Creek and couple banks near Anderson Road swim beach. Also caught a couple in big cove on left down lake of Hopson Pike. Caught 2 on buzzbait, 1 on pop r and 2 on Texas rig netbait paca craw. Had several bites with a c-rig, but for some reason they would not hold on to it. A couple came off shallow wood and the others off rocky banks in 2- 6 ft. Fished from 7 to 11:30.
