I fished a tournament out of Long Hunter this Saturday. I took off and ran just down lake to the cove right after the long narrow rock point that sticks way out into the lake. I caught about 10 fish there and loaded the boat with five 15 inch keepers in just 20 minutes! Next I ran to the islands just uplake from the Hobson bridge. I fished the tiny rock one and hooked one largemouth about 3 lbs but he came unbuttoned before I could get him to the boat. Next I ran up to the tiny cove just down lake from Jones Mill and across from the island people like to camp on. I threw a dropshot in there because I lost about a 4lber and a 6lber last week and that is what they hit. (I’m still not sleeping well after losing those fish). I caught a 3.5 lb smallmouth but he was only 17 and 3/4 inches so I couldn’t keep him. Next stop was jones mill. I caught about 5 short largemouth and three keepers that were not big enough to help. Next stop was sister cove. I caught about 10 in the back with 2 more keepers that didn’t help. I caught so many fish I lost count and had maybe 10 keepers but just could’t find a quality bite. I ended the day with 9.5 pounds for my 5 fish. 13 pounds won and 12 pounds got second. If only the smallmouth had kept. I would have been in the money. All of my fish came off a watermelon red lizard or brush hog. Sorry if this post is choppy with poor grammar I got a total of 5 hours of sleep this weekend between the tournament and my senior prom that night.
