Had a late start this morning, did not launch till 8 AM at Fate Sanders. Headed to Lamar and looked over the Weakley Bridge on the way over. Two boats were close on the piling so I headed to the humps/point at Lamar. I started throwing a small jerkbait with no luck. Saw the schooling bass surface and caught two on a lipless crankbait. Both small fish. The bridge piling opened up so I fished there for a while but only managed two small bass on a spoon. I lost two spoons there trying to work them close to the piling and got caught up in the log jams. I had caught one of the bass when the bait popped off so I was trying to keep it close to the cover. Got frustrated and headed to Sister cove. Had a great couple hours on the flat outside the cove and the back of the cove. Caught my largest keeper of the day on a weighted fluke. Nice bass that pushed 4 lb. The flat had many small fish and the fluke paid off. Caught 5-6 LM on the fluke before trying the back of the cove where a large school of white bass/LM were feeding. Had a ball back there catching them on a 1/8 oz jig head and 3 inch yellow grub. Caught at least a dozen small fish. I headed to Jones Mill point and had no luck while casting a shakey head. Headed to the cut through and caught two small bass on the left hand side where there are some stumps. I was off the water at 12:45 and was happy to have a good bass day. It’s been a while since I have been out. Brian’s reports sure helped me find some fish today.
