did anyone fish the monday night tourney out of Lone Branch?
we zero’d in it tonight – by 8:30, without a fish in the boat, we took out early and headed home.
to make a long story short, we started out by heading to some ledges downlake. there were shad EVERYWHERE. however, they were spread out in smaller balls.
a TWRA boat pulled up on us within the first couple of minutes of use being there. after looking through my wallet for a few minutes, i finally found my license.
by the time we finished chatting with the officers, we had blown up onto the ledge that we were targeting.
from there everything went downhill. we got off track in terms of our plan and ended up fishing pretty haphazardly both super shallow and some humps.
shallow was a complete bust. out deep, there were a ton of fish on the graph, but most were positioned loosely suspending around bait clumps in 15-20 ft of water.
out of curiosty… did anyone get on a bit tonight? i’m looking for a better gameplan for our next outing – not to mention, i’ll be keeping my fishing license handier. 🙂
    thanks. j.

Man, it’s a bummer to hear this report. I’m really hoping that Old Hickory starts to turn around here shortly. If it’s any consolation, the recent report from a guide on OH corroborated your report; fish scattered deep and shallow plus micro shad everywhere equals a tough bite. Take a look for yourself.

    Better luck next time!

P.s. Have you heard any reports from the Cumberland recently? I’m thinking about trying my luck there this weekend.

funny you should mention the Cumberland.
i’m loosely planning to go there this weekend in an attempt to avoid lake traffic. i did see some fish busting shad from my office downtown yesterday. they were pushed up against the rip rap just up river from the new waterfront construction. it wasn’t a long lasting affair, but enough to get me excited about heading out there. hopefully they will be generating. i’m up for pitching some finesse jigs.

Good to hear! Maybe I’ll see you out there. Red Bass Cat, right?

I’m gonna hit the Cumberland out of Shelby Park this evening for some bass and cats. Hopefully the storms will hold off, at least the lightning
