Today the fishing was good on Old Hickory Lake. We caught between 15-18 bass, with several fish in the 2.5lb-4.5lb range. We fished two patterns that were productive. The first was coves off the main channel, specifically the cove directly above the Gallatin steam plant on the left and the cove directly up from the steam plant on the right. In both coves we fished buzzbaits(white) and weightless sinkos(blk/blu) in 1ft-4ft of water! Our second pattern was fishing island around the steam plant(2 miles up and down from) with buzzbaits and Normal Mid crankbaits(runs 8ft-12ft), in shad color pattern. We focused on isolated wood off the islands and the ledge that dropped off on each side.

We did not catch a ton of fish, but the bite was consistent throughout the day and the fish were good size. The water temperature is in the 70’s(COOL for August) and the fish on Old Hickory are pretty easy to catch shallow! Good Luck!
