After reading about the run ins with jackasses all weekend, I will try to balance the good vs evil in here. 😀 I took my son out on Sunday morning before it got hot. We were on the water by 5:15 and it wasn’t quiet light enough to go tearing down the lake so I idled over to the white sign out from Fate. We fished there for 30 minutes with no bites so we headed to Sister Cove to try some top water action. As we get close to the creek in the back left corner I could hear the water running out of the creek which is always a good sign. I noticed a boat sitting all the way in the pocket where the creek flows in and they were wearing the fish out. I started trolling around them as I didn’t want to interfere, when the guy in the front of the boat told me to come on in so my little guy could catch some fish. We pulled nose in so I could hold our position and we managed to catch a few before the little guy decided it was time to go home. Those two gentlemen earned my respect on Sunday morning and I hope I get the chance to repay them some day.

Fortunately, there are still some great fishermen out there. Also, kids should bring out the best in all of us. Good for you for spending time with the little guy. Many fathers don’t take the time and it is showing in our society.

That’s great! There are definitely more good people out there than bad. It’s just easier to complain about the bad ones than to celebrate the good.
Out of curiosity, how old is your son? My 5yo loves fishing. He’s been out catching me by a longshot the last couple of weeks.

Knox is 6 yrs old. He loves fishing, but gets discouraged rather quickly. For example, we only fished for 2 hrs on Sunday before he was ready to go home. I think I have spoiled him with hunting and fishing because the first time he went hunting, we killed a deer. The first time we went fishing, we caught a 3 pound largemouth on a plastic. 😀

Sounds like I need to borrow Knox since he is catching better fishing than I am. I know what you mean about kids getting bored pretty quick. I take my six year old grandson and generally when the snacks run out he is ready to go! His sister (9 yrs) will fish with me as long as I want to stay.

As an adult I been fishing a thousand times and don’t remember most of the trips, however, I remember vividly when my Dad (God rest his soul) used to take me fishing. You guys are creating great memories for you kids.
