Decided to go out yesterday after the main weather systems went through. Stopped by the bait shop and got some shiners. Got out there around 3pm. Figured I would try around 7 points. Saw a boat with 6 people on it and eventually found out it was a striper/hybrid guide. Didnt take long to see them catching hybrids. I just knew we were in for a good evening, NOT. Within 2 hours they had caught their limit of 12 fish, we had caught NONE. I saw fish on the graph, they just would not bite the shiners. Pretty sure the guide had bigger bait because i saw the size. Looked like 6 inch shad. I assume he got them with a throw net. I would have thought the shiners would have done better than they did.

Interesting. I’m thinking of letting one of my guides start guiding for stripers. 10 years ago I use to catch bait and set 6 lines…it was a lot of fun, but I got out of it. Now my new(and younger crew) wants to get back into it and I took them if they can confidently fish for them then lets do it! I also just re powered my pontoon boat with a new 115 yamaha from Anderson Marine….so now we can get down lake quicker!!!
