And get after some crappie! I’ve never had much luck in the winter, but I hope to change that this year.

I read a lot on the past posts about catching them back in fall and spring creek. Do I need to look for some warm days and/or maybe a warm rain for things to turn on? Or is it pretty much hit or miss day to day on finding the fish?

I have a spider rig and can easily drift minnows. I had good luck last year pre-spawn spider rigging up in fall/spring creek where they all come together near the stake beds.

The crappie bite well throughout the entire winter. Finding the schools of bait on ledges and points up lake is the best pattern (mainly up lake). No need to wait for warm days unless you feel you need it…..the crappie don’t stop eating in the cold.

That is a great winter spot!

I catch a lot back in east and west fork but the bite is better when there is current.
