Thought some of you might enjoy this. Today is my middle son’s birthday, so I took off because he wanted me to take him fishing. My youngest son gets to go, he’s not too patient for bass fishing, he gives up and loses attention rather quickly. We had just went Saturday and had a great day of bass fishing. Me and my middle son caught 14 bass, brought home 10. We fished from 5:30am until about 11:00am. Caught some on topwater (KVD Sexy Dawg) early and shaky head worms (Zoom red bug), most were on shaky head.

So today, I get to the lake at 5:30 and the rain is pretty steady. It’s too much to launch the boat, we would be soaking wet in no time. It’s my middle son’s birthday (16), so, I don’t want to disappoint him by having to return home without going fishing, so we wait and wait. It finally slows down a little after 7, so we head out. We go to cove just south of Party Cove, I don’t know if it has a name or not. I catch a nice keeper on topwater and I’m thinking this might be a really good trip. But I did not catch another, my middle son catches a nice keeper on the shaky head after another 30 minutes. Then nothing, so we get ready to go to Party Cove, as we pull into Party Cove it starts coming down again. Not a driving rain but a steady rain. We are all fishing with shaky heads. All of a sudden my 10 year son says, “Do I have a fish?” I said yes, reel him in! He reeled in and I am shocked that he has the nicest fish of the day! Unfortunately, the bass just didn’t seem to be as active as they have been. We fished for a little while more but were not able to catch any more today.

    Hope the picture loads correctly.

I am glad that I got to share this moment with him, he was so excited. Seems special with Father’s Day coming up.
