I went out for a couple of hours yesterday evening.
Fishing around Bluegrass and Shutes I caught one 3lb largemouth on a big worm. Classic summertime deal… Made a long cast. Held my rod/reel in one hand while peeing off the side of the boat. Got a bite, set the hook. You can figure out the rest. So, I’m left to think that the fish wanted it SLOW. I had a couple of followers on a crankbait and a couple other light bites on the worm, but didn’t hook up with anything.

did anyone else get on anything substantial? I’m fishing an evening tournament tonight and hoping for a decent idea of what to start with. I’m leaning towards humps/highspots/ledges.

    thoughts?

I would pick your best 5 humps, take a whiz off the side of the boat, and hopefully have a solid five fish limit

    Haha. Sounds about right.

I was out on Saturday watching all the bassholes run around trying to win the BFL tourney. I wish I had some “juice” to share but it was as tough of a bite as I’ve recently experienced. I only caught one keeper and it was right at the mouth (on the rocks) of the creek that the Saundersville launch is in.

we only caught a couple of short fish in the tournament.
both came from deep in the water willows on a swim jig. we hit a couple of humps, graphed some fish, but couldn’t get them to bite. i’m assuming between the pressure from the BFL and Shriners tourneys, the fish had seen a lot of lures. unfortunately, the whizzing pattern didn’t work. it was kind of windy. so, sitting on a spot was a chore – i didn’t want to waste time with a marker buoy. in retrospective, i should have put a graph with better mapping at the front of the boat for fishing “offshore”. i have to commit to getting my electronics situation sorted out this coming week. i have a couple of hds touches [one thanks to eanderson] in my fishing room that haven’t been installed yet. being able to see the gps and sonar at the same time would probably help on the humps.

ps. seems that my problems might be solved by taking an ounce of prevention to avoid a pound of cure.
