After 2 weeks and 2 checks on Percy Priest, I was really pressing my luck fishing another tournament this weekend. I was due for a bad day. Despite fishing the past 2 weekends down lake, I decided to go into Fall Creek to start my day. BIG MISTAKE. I managed to catch some short fish on top water lures but no keepers. We spent 2 hours going from the front to the back fishing all I knew in Fall Creek but nothing ever managed. I did catch a few shorties on rattle trap as well. There were just too many boats and not enough fish in Fall Creek. Way too hard to consistency fish that area it seems. I can do decent there on a weekday but if I ever try a Saturday I always have trouble it seems.

At 8:00 or so, we made it to the mouth of Spring Creek. This is where I caught our first keeper a nice 2.5lbs fish on a crankbait. Working banks I’m familiar with and some isloated cover, we were able to catch about 5 bass but only the one keeper. We had some fun with a carp and rock fish though.

At 9:30 we motored up river to the West Fork only to be disappointed with the amount of boats and lack of fish. The blue bird skies were starting to take affect. It would be a tough day on Priest it would seem. After a few more pointless stops, we headed back to the Fate Sanders area.

At 11:30 my partner and I doubled up on fish on a bank using crankbaits. We ended up getting a keeper out of the craziness. It was high noon and the sun was hot and water temps were rising. We were actually thinking of leaving an hour early if we didn’t get bit soon. Boy, did my luck change. In the next 45 min, I worked that same 50 yard stretch of bank and caught over 20 bass including more keepers and losing the biggest fish of the day, probably 3.5lbs. I was heartbroken. I lost another possible keeper there too.

We ended up with 4 fish for 9lbs and 2nd place. 1st place was 10.5lbs and we def would’ve had that and possibly big fish had I landed the one that got away. All-in-all, I’ll take 3 checks in 3 weeks on Priest and be happy. I struggled most of the day and found a school of fish late.

I would type more but I’m literally falling asleep typing this. My schedule takes me to TIms Ford, Kentucky Lake, and Center HIll next so I won’t be back on Priest until most likely July (at least for tournaments).

The last few weeks I have been fishing in Fall Creek. That’s where I have been catching my crappie. I have not moved around much, because I have not needed to. I did fish Jones Mill Cove and while back and across from Poole’s Knob boat ramp, and few other places that I posted. I’m a little confused. Over the last few years of the Premium Reports I always have more bass than crappie reports for that reason, bass move around more and are more technical day to day. Since the bass have been back in Fall Creek I figured most bass fishermen like to read that. The crappie reports are usually the same. Now that the water temperature is warming significantly I will be moving around more and will keep everyone posted on my findings. I apologize if you feel the reports are sad, not my intentions.

Guys, regardless of how often Brain is posting reports, if you ever feel like you need an update on a particular lake, species, etc. just start a new thread and ask away. Brian has always been more than accommodating entertaining any and all questions to the best of his ability, and he usually does so if a very timely manner. BUT if for some reason he can’t, more times than not, several other members will chime in to help out however they can. That’s one of the many things that makes this community special.

Heck I’ve been nothing impressed with his reports. Im impressed with the fact that he reports as much as he does. It must take a lot of time to remember your day as specific as he does then jot it all down in a very detailed report. Go fishing all day, come home clean, cook, cater to wife and kids, then write a report…more power too you and thanks for everything that you do. This sight has helped me tremendously!
