Last weekend the fishing was good. I caught a lot of fish, but did not have many big fish.
Friday one my guides went into Hamilton Creek and fished the left cove after the Anderson boat ramp in 2ft-6ft of water with a Texas Rig lizards and caught a 4.5lb and 6lb!!! The day before I caught around 30 bass there with 2 keepers. We both fished a 6″ watermelon/red flake lizards with 3/16oz weight.
Saturday when I fished the same area I caught around 12, both small and largemouths, but none had much size. There came out of 2ft-6ft, just dragging slowly. We had a TON of fish pick up and drop the bait.
I motored across the creek into sail boat cove and fished the right bank going in(right near the no wake buoys). There we caught 4 largemouths….all shoron our lizards in same depth. The water was 67 degrees.
Our next hole was the back of Smith Springs near the YMCA dock. We fished our lizards from the point with the “no wake buoy”, towards the back where there are two giant rock columns that parallel the bank in to the water. The other day we caught 6-8 back there with 2 keepers in 30 minutes! Today 2 with 1 keeper.
We went back into Hamilton creek to the coves on the left to see if we could get some big girls…….nada(It just never turned on in there).
Next, we motored back to Stewarts Creek and fished the big main point on the left at the mouth where I caught 3 keepers in 30 mintues last week on a C-rig lizard. Casting in or lizards and deep crankbaits we never got a bite:(
Fished main channel point on the right of Lamar Hill(off the PVC pipe). Casting lizards and crankbaits in 4ft-8ft….nada.
Lastly, I went into the Smyrna cut through. There was bait EVERYWHERE and small bass feeding left and right! We cast spooks, crankbaits and lizards. We caught 3 bass, including 1 keeper(on the lizard) in 45 minutes. The bass were on the flats, on the rocks and in the short grass. The keeper(3lbs) came out of the boulder rocks in the bend of the cut through.
We had to leave to get back to the house, but it was a good day to get out with a good friend.
