Yesterday I had a great time on the lake guiding two trips. The first trip was a crappie trip from 7 to 1 p.m. The water temperature was 86 degrees with normal clarity. We focused near Fate Sanders to the Youth Camp. At the end of the day we fished two trees above Fate Sanders which was a great decision! We focused on 10 – 16 ft of water in brush piles and stake beds. We fished with live minnows all of the day with the exception of one or two trees where I caught 8 on a crappie magnet in purple and chartreuse. All of the trees down lake from Fate Sanders, Pooles knob, youth camp, and Jones Mill coughed up a few shorts and one or two keepers…. it was really slow. By around 12 we had 12 keepers and had probably caught 30 crappie. The last hour we went above the Weakly lane bridge and fished passed the bridge on the right where there’s a big tree in 18 ft and caught one keeper two shorts. Our last spot was at the second red buoy past Weakley lane bridge on the right. There’s a big tree in 15 to 18 ft and we sat there and caught around 20 crappie with 12 or more keepers! That rounded out our 25 fish stringer for the day which we were thoroughly excited about.
