The other day I fished with a client on Old Hickory. He has a tournament in the fall so we did not fish a ton, but we found fish at several places and had a great time.

We launched at Cedar Creek and headed straight to Station Camp. We motored into the west fork and stopped on the first rip rap point on the left, across from the mansions. The channel swings up against this point and the bait and bass consistently hold there. As we pulled up we saw the bass feeding on the surface. We started at the beginning of the rip rap and starting pitching shaky heads and swing jigs with Big Bite Craws(brown with purple flake). Sitting in 8ft and casting into 3ft we had 2 bite and caught one. We reached the end of the rip rap and started casting on the flat where the fish were busting. A lot of action, but no hook ups.

We idled to the next point and followed the same technique. We sat in 10ft and cast to 2ft. We caught one keeper on a 2.5 square bill(sexy shad). The bass were doing the same thing here.

We idled to the next point on the left, this point turns into a bluff wall. Sitting in 10-12ft and flipping our swing jigs into the shade at isolated wood we caught 4. All fished were right on the bank.

We motored to the back of the creek and flipped the shade under the bridge…nada

I moved over to the ski cove at the mouth of the west fork and headed straight to the point in the back(on the right). There was bait surrounding the point so we grabbed our Red Eye sexy shad rattle traps and starting casting. Burning the lures in we made it half way around the island and BOOM….another keeper! We continued around the point without another bite, but the bass were feeding everywhere.

I cruised into Spencer Creek and showed him the bridges in the back and how the bass hold there and move onto the flats to feed behind them. At the last bridge in the back on Long Branch Cove we decided to fish. We flipped our plastic craws to the rip rap. When we made it to the back of the left rip rap I landed a 4lb and a 2lb in 3ft of water!

We loaded the boat and headed to BNA airport. Client learned a lot and had a great time!
