The last couple evenings have been phenomenal on Percy Priest Lake.

Last night I fished with a gentleman from 3:30pm-7:30pm. Earlier in the day I was on a crappie trip fishing near Hong Kong Island and the bass were coming up left and right on the flat in front of the island. Some fish were little, but some were large! Once, the bass came up near the boat and we were able to get two rattle traps in the middle and catch a 2+lbs! With that said I started my evening trip on the same flat scanning for the bass…..they were gone.

I motored over to the long left point at Jones Mill Cove and started scanning. BASS and bait everywhere! Shortly after scanning the bass were on the surface going nuts on shad. We started casting flukes into the schools, getting bites pretty frequently, but most were just whacking it. We did manage to catch a few on pearl Zoom flukes fished weightless. After the bass calmed down a little we picked up our shaky heads with Zoom 6 3/4″ Watermelon/purple flake Trick worms and 7/16oz swing jigs with brown/blue Big Bite Craws. First 5 minutes I caught a 3lb and my client had another good fish on that came off. We were sitting at the end of the point in 35ft and casting into 10ft. We fished for a little while longer and then moved to the hump across the channel from Fate Sanders. It is 50 yards towards Stewarts Creek from the red channel buoy. There we cast the same lures and caught 7 bass…..most of them were keepers!!! We had the boat in 15ft and was casting into 10ft dragging back slowly. At one time the bass started schooling and I chucked my A-rig and caught 2 at once! One was a good keeper and the other was short, but what an awesome experience.

We did not fish many spots. I wish all trips were like that.

    Have a SAFE weekend everyone!

the hump you’re talking about, is it on the left or right side of the channel heading towards Stewarts Creek?
