The last few trips have been so much fun! We have been catching around 20 bass per trip, all on buzzbaits! Once again,it is Hoppy’s Hawg Buzz, 3/8oz in white and black that has been the producers. I have been fishing in 1ft-2ft of water the entire day. Some of the main areas we have been fishing are, the mouth at Spring Creek, Byrants Grove Cove, around the Smyrna water pump house and the back of Spring Creek. We are targeting one type of structure, the weeds/dead vegetation from last years low water. I believe anywhere you see a lot of those stick-ups near the bank is a good spot to try. I have been fishing nothing else. If you notice bait in the weeds….your in a good area!
Spooks and flukes have not been working….not sure why, but I bet a Ribbit or some type of frog would work too!

Good report Brian, I’ve fished the Spring Creek area a couple of times this year, mainly with 10 1/2″ plastic worms-purple/flake, caught a few. look forward to trying the Hoppy’s Hog next time out. Do you have a color preferance?

Hey Brian, I have been fishing for bass a few times in the past week after I caught those fish on the buzzbait. I tried all my usual spots that usually produce fish, and came up short saturday and today. Is there a place that you have been catching bass that is bank accessible?

From the bank I am not sure. Have you tried Stewards Creek boat ramp? The back of that cove has a ton of shallow weeds, brush and other structure.

    Creekcrappie,
You might try the back of Hamilton Creek. I didn’t get a chance to fish back there this weekend due to dodging the pop-up storms, but there is definitely a lot of that dead grass / stickup brush that you can access from shore. I think you could park somewhere on Smith Springs Road to get back there.

I tried that last night and a couple of other times. I have never gotten a bite before.

Hey Brian, what are you fishing in the middle of the day? Still super shallow? Still a buzzbait?

Must be doing something wrong..Me and a buddy fished the Hoppy 3/8 and the 1/8 Buzzbait in black, white yesterday afternoon from 4:30 to 7:30PM and caught only 3 small bass. Fished the mouth of Spring Creek and back in a few of the pockets. There was a lot of bait but no bass on the buzz.
