Today was a great day on the water with a 1st place finish. Tim and I did not catch a ton of fish….maybe 12-15. The first 2 hours we fished behind the Smyrna pump house with Hoppy’s buzzbaits in the shallow weeds. During that time we caught 3 keepers and a few short fish. We lost a really nice fish that wrapped around the weeds and broke the line. We also had a few short strikes. After the sun rose, the topwater bite shut down.

We moved to Stewart Creek for an hour with one short bite. Then we tried a few deeper areas with no luck. Finally, we planted ourselves behind Fate Sanders Marina where we caught 6 or so, including 2 keepers to finish our limit! One keeper came on Bandit 100(sexy shad) and the other on a Shad Rap #5.

Not the most active trip, but we caught fish throughout the day and ended up with nice limit.

Brian, Do you use a trailer when throwing a buzz bait and do you normally use a trailer hook?

Hey Brian, I just watched your video on making the umbrella rig, where do you put your jb weld at on the whisk?

I usually add a trailer to my buzzbaits, but the Hoppy’s baits have a really wide hook and I have not felt the need for one.

On the A-rigs I put the JB wield at the top of the handle, down into where the wires meet.
