Old hickory seems to be on fire right now. While I was out turkey hunting this weekend a few of my friends slammed them. Bass where making beds, bloody tails and FULL of eggs. A couple 5lb+ fish caught.
One friends said the spinnerbait bite was really good. This drives me nuts when I hear this because I can never get a good spinnerbait bite going. Im not sure if its my blade size, colors, weights and so on. Anyone with some OH spinnerbait knowledge, school me!

I was out on OH on Saturday and if it was “on fire” the wind seemed to extinguish it immediately. I caught a few in the mid-lake area but mostly all dinks. I didn’t throw a spinnerbait but I did chuck a vibrating jig up shallow quite a bit. Though my best fish came on a lipless crankbait, must of my bites came on a DT6.

Any idea what area your buddies were having success?

One friend fishes spence creek, Im not sure he ever ventures out of it. He slammed 2 really nice fish, 5lber and a 3.5. My other buddies Im not sure, they fished a tournament and most likely went all over the place. They hammered them with a spinnerbait, best 5 was like 14lb or something.

This is always my luck. I had a tournament on OH during the middle of March. The lake was cold and the bite was mostly dead. Fish were few and far between. Meanwhile on Percy Priest the “heatwave” that we had in the middle of March really had the fish biting. Now, I”m on Priest preparing for a tournament and Old Hickory is on fire. Always my luck.
