I went to co-op in town and bought me a 18 gauge syringe. When I bleed a bass I aim right behind one of the rough patches in the back of their throat(on the top). Then I push back and up until I see the air escape through the syringe. Place needle where you want it first, then place fish under water so the air will be forced through syringe when you puncture tissue.

Wow this is awesome information. I have never heard of this before. So, Brian is this because of the fish being down so deep and when they get pulled out of the water it causes them to stop breathing? just curious. Thanks again

there are several great videos on YouTube for doing this.. thanks Brian I recently had to watch a few fish swimming around upside down top of the water and I didn’t know there was a solution I’m glad to have one

They float on their sides b/c the air in their bladder expands when they rise up from deep depths quickly. If you release them right away they will swim back down sometimes, but if you like to take pictures like I do, too much air collects and you need to bleed them .
