How many of you guys put out your own brushpiles/attractors for crappie? Never done it, but feel the need to if gonna have a good year on them. A couple of questions if anyone can guide me in the right direction:

    – What do you use (christmas trees, pvc, etc.)
-What do you use to sink them (concrete block?)
    – What is the best time to put them out
    – What depth?

How many spots do you usually set out?

I do some every year in addition to finding existing brush in the lake. I like to take DEAD trees that are lying on the shore, place them on the deck of my boat, attached a cinder block or rock and drop them where I want them.

X-mas trees are way too small in my opinion. I look for branches and trees 6′-8′ long and tall.

Best time is winter when nobody is on the lake.

I like to sink on humps and on channel drops and points around 15ft at summer pool.

Ok cool. I was wondering if I find dead trees on shore already laying on ground if it was ok to take them. Sounds like it is

I figured they didn’t want a chainsaw fired up, although I could make several good piles quickly 🙂
