hey guys. i’m hoping to do some after dark kayak catfishing this weekend (after all the pleasure boaters get off the lake). i have been down to PP damn and seen a few people catching skipjack. this is the bait i’m hoping to use. do any of you have any good tips for catching some of these guys? i want to put a couple on ice to use over the weekend. i have tried w/ no success to catch some on the wing wall side of the damn, but haven’t spent too long fooling with it. i was throwing some crappie magnets and other small plastics…whats the go to bait for the go to bait? ha!

I’ve always used something small like a white crappie magnet or an even smaller white feather jig. Sometimes I’ll tie two or three on one line and throw it out and Pump It Back

Caught two yesterday. Gonna cut em up and give em a go today. One was on a spoon, the other on a crappie magnet. Also had a white bass/blue gill double on trout magnets.

You can’t go wrong with skipjack if you can find them. Cumberland City steam plant is always a good place. However,
they had an accident in the plant so this winter it was off. Barkley Dam, Guntersville Dam and Cheatham all places where
you can load the freezer with skipjack in the summer time.

I have had success using Sabiki Rigs and streamers on my fly rod.
