I don’t like Center Hill. It’s no secret. However, I usually do catch fish when I go up there. I really only go up there if my tournament trail takes me there or for winter time jigging spoon season. I can really catch the spots this time of year. I haven’t been in a few years so I thought I’d give it a try with having an extra work holiday on Monday after Christmas and Monday after New Years.

The first day we caught 5 fish in 5 hours including one really fat, nice 16″ spotted bass. I found all the bait in the back 3rd of one creek. I searched for 2 hours in other creeks and never found a school of bait anywhere.
The second day (yesterday), I went back and started where I left off last week. I caught a nice 14″ fat spotted bass in the first 10 minutes. I didn’t catch another fish for 4 hours when I caught a 14″ largemouth. That was it! Once again no bait ANYWHERE! The only place that had any schools of bait was the same creek I’d found them before. Literally idled around for 1 1/2 hours for nothing. We fished the bank some too with jerkbaits just to try that with no luck. The schools of shad had decreased to about 1/2 of what they were the week before.

On a side note, there was only 2 other boats on the entire lake that I saw yesterday. Guess that tells me all I need to know.
