I started to hear of a lot of bass being caught in shallow water mid and up lake in coves, pockets and creeks. Crankbaits and T-rig soft plastics in 2ft-6ft.

i’ve heard several reports on OH of guys catching bass on main lake log jams [mid lake – around 109] flipping creature baits.
also, a few guys have been doing well throwing shad raps around the same cover [to think they work places other than Priest!!!]
there are a lot of main lake pockets up river from 109 that should be getting good right now.

I’ve been out after work from around 5 till dark a couple times last week fishing for crappie. The one evening I caught 8 keepers fishing 1/16 oz green/chart southern pro hot grubs on one laydown in about 8 fow. All had eggs but were not ready to spawn, its been hit and miss for me, water temps were in the upper 40 range to some water in low 50’s. I would concentrate on laydowns and docks in 8 to 10 fow, Brian has some way points for Station Camp that I have caught fish on and they will get better as the water warms. I would say we are going to be in full swing in a couple weeks, through the end of April into May. From past notes we are about two to four weeks behind the past couple years crappie spawn.

    Good luck,
    Ray

Had a pretty good day yesterday fishing drakes creek. Day was cut short because of prior obligations, but still manage to boat 7 largemouth before noon. All caught in Drakes Creek. 2 caught in about 12 ft on jerkbait. The other 5 caught on 1/4oz rattle traps and small bodied squarebills in shallow pockets/coves (3-5ft) including a 4.5 and a 4 pounder. Water temp varied between 50 and 51.5

Sounds like fish are being caught which is good. We have had some good fishing around drakes for crappie but nothing to ride home about, 2 or 3 here and there. I cant wait to see the times like everyone talks about when they hit and hit and hit. That will be awesome!!! Went out last night at Station Camp area and caught several smaller bass. Catching fish and relaxing on the water does a mind, body, and soul good!! Hope Everyone has a great week.
