Crappie 12/21
Well my plan for today did not start out right when the BP did not have any minnows but we decided to fish east fork as planned and troll for crappie instead of minnow fish. We trolled 1/16 in 8 to 14 ft with chart and motor oil grubs. We had 7 fish with 5 keepers on our first pass in East Fork at the first inside bend past the old bridge. Trolled about 100 yards before and past the bend and repeated the same pass 5 times back and forth. Most fish were 12 ft on scattered wood. Would pick up 2-3 at a time and they would slow down till we hit more wood. Fished from 2 till 4:45 and ended up with 29 total with 11 keepers. Lots of short crappie and bluegill. Trolled .7 – .9 mph and got bit when zig-zagging when baits would fall slower. Water temp was 46-7. Glad Brian posted the report about trolling. Probably the last trip till after the new year.
