My fishing partner and I were invited to do some trolling for crappies on Sunday and we were blessed with the best day I have ever had. We fished Stewart Creek and never left. In 3-7 foot of water trolling 1/32 black crappie jigs with yellow curly tails we caught 56 keeper crappie from 6:30 to 1 pm. We fished 3 rods each 12, 8 and 6 footers on the back and (2)12 and 8 foot rods upfront. I have seen Brian’s reports on fishing this way and knew it worked but never expected the results we had. We tossed back at least 30 short crappie, white bass and catfish. The guy we went with has only fished PP 3 times and has boated over 40 keepers each time…all in the last 7 days. I know….it sounded like a fishing story to me also….till we went with him yesterday. Amazing day and I hope I can duplicate his technique after purchasing some long rods and rod holders. Best crappie day I have had on PP before this was 15 keepers on minnows and bobber…my days of minnow fishing may be over. Dally

Come bring that technique to the Crappie tournament and go after that first place trophy! Great cause!

When you guys do this do you use the outboard or trolling motor? I need to try it sometime.

We used the trolling motor the whole day…too much. We ended up having to get off the lake with dead trolling motor batteries. Should have used the motor to move for our next pass. I will be at the tourney Brian but most likely just for bass. I am not a great crappie fisherman but I am getting there. I could not have had a day like this alone. I was lucky to get the chance to go with this guy and have him show me the ropes. I should be purchasing some equipment this week to try this on my boat and will post how I do on my own. If I get 20 keepers in a day I would be happy. 56 almost felt like cheating…almost!

Lol. It is a great technique to learn. Love to have you in the bass tournament.

    Thanks
