Been out of town for a week and decided to troll for some crappie this morning after reading the recent reports. We started trolling behind Fate Sanders in 4-9 foot of water. I was trolling 1/32 jigs with brown and yellow triple grubs I picked up 6 keepers on our first pass. My partner zeroed and switched all his grubs over to the same color and started picking up keepers also. We trolled the right hand side and back of the bay from 6 am till 10:30 and ended up with 19 keepers. A few big black crappie and the rest were decent white crappie. After the action slowed down we headed over to Sister Cove and picked up 6 more keepers on one long pass. Decided to pack it up after catching a 3 foot gar that tangled all the lines. Headed to Chappy’s at noon for a beer and a burger.

I saw that Brian had decided to forgo the shallow fish and fish deeper since he is doing so well on them. I was happy with our results since I was afraid that the spawn was over but Brian was right….it’s not over. All of our white crappie had eggs in them and all the blacks were spawned out. Hopefully we will have a strong second spawn. I sure hope so because we can look forward to some great fishing in May if it stretches out.

Saw multiple guys catching several bass on soft plastics today and the bass tourney had some nice fish too. Saw some floating bass at the launch which stinks but it happens. Home to be out later this week for some bass fishing. Going to try some top waters and throw the A rig in the shallow rocks.
