Color of the day was Monkey milk and black/chartreuse all tipped with minnows. We did start to pick up several shorts later in the day.Water temp at 8am was 58 and in Stewart creek at 5pm was 64.

My partner and I put in at Stewarts Creek around noon. Started in front of ski cove and caught 3 keepers on our first pass. We thought we were going to do great but it slowed down pretty quickly. We ended up catching a few more keepers there and then trolled both sides back towards the ramp and did pretty well. Found some big keepers and all the short fish disappeared for a while. We ended up with 21 keepers, not a bad afternoon and it sure was a nice day to be on the water. My partner was running TN SHAD color grubs and he was the keeper magnet with them. I was running motor oil and put up a bunch of small fish. Caught them in all depths….3 feet to 12 feet but best was 5-8 FOW. Had some excitement coming off the ramp, dude pulled up on a motorcycle and made a fast walk towards the woods, here comes 4-5 cop cars behind him and they come out with guns drawn. We did not stay for the action but it sounded like they were yelling at the guy to get down or whatever so they must have found him. No idea what he did but they sure did come in hot after him. You see it all at the boat ramp!

Gosh, boat ramps never fail! I don’t know about you guys, maybe I’m paranoid, but public accesses kind of freak me out at times. Usually I fish in the evenings and by myself, and when I’m pulling my boat out at a given ramp around dusk, it always seems like sketchy/suspicious people are hanging around boat ramps… Does anyone else have this experience? Perhaps I should launch elsewhere…

I have experienced that a few times but I worry more about someone breaking into the truck when I stay on the lake later in the evening. I have seen a lot of auto glass in the parking lots at the less used launch ramps.

I’ve even gotten to where I carry a gun every time. Seems like most of the ramps are that way now days. I really hate to night fish anymore. Last summer some kids unlatched my trailer and took the safety chains off. Luckily I caught it before backing into the ramp. I should have had a lock on it but it was a different rig than I usually use.

The worst to me is Jefferson Springs boat ramp. I always feel like people are up to no good there!

Never had a problem until last summer at Stewart’s creek mid day I wtched 2 guys in a panel van circle the lot 3 times as I idled up to the ramp once I got my boat on the trailer they parked in a spot near me and watched me for a few minutes. Kept my eye on them and when my head was down strapping the boat down they got out and headed my way. That’s when I turned so they could see my glock 40 on my side with my hand on it and said can I help you gentlemen. They decided to leave quickly. This was 2 weeks after someone on here reported. Trailer being stolen from the lot.

THE SAME HAPPEN TO ME AT SMITH SPRING TWO YEARS AGO.
AND HE DID NOT LIKE THE LOOKS OF THAT 9MM.LOL.

Just a few months back at Stewarts Creek, I had someone steal the rubber grommet from one of the tailights on my trailer. Not too big of a deal to fix but still a pain.
-
Someone stole a bucket with fish in it and some gear once at Lamar Hill. Worst part is that I was probably 30 yards away from it.

Wow, didn’t quite except quite this response. I guess the moral of this story is public boat ramps are indeed sketchy! Be careful out there, gents!

Do what I did several times get a 3 gallon gas can fill it up with gas and 2 cups of sugar. If we kill their motors they can’t make it to the ramp as easy. I have had 3 of these takin from Lamar hill and 1 from fall creek. First they got my trailer spare at fall creek then battery at Lamar. First I ground the rivits off on a chain saw chain that ran but was worn out I was going to leave that for them. But then I thought a thief would just sell it. And I didn’t want to hurt the wrong person so I didn’t do that. But if I knew they would use it I would leave it in the bed with a grin on my face. Got no use period for a thief. Period. But I do smile while I’m pouring that sugar.
