We just moved here this winter we are putting in at the Smith Springs ramp. We’re having trouble finding the crappie, does anyone have any spots or tips on where we could catch them near here or where I should trailer for that matter to get on some crappie. Our home lake had standing timber and wasn’t flood control so they were easy to find there. Not having any trouble with the bass but haven’t caught a single crappie. We are fishing out of a pontoon so if its too long of a run it might be easier to trailer to another ramp. Caught this last weekend and several other nice keepers i’ll gladly share the bass info i’m not fishing tournaments down here anyway sold the bass boat in place of a pontoon for the wife and kids.

A few crappie and a ton of yellow bass have moved in to the back of stewards creek. Its easier to fish off the bank there. Park at Volenteer park.

I fished last week out of 7 points and caught a ton of yellow bass, all in 1-3 FOW

I caught 16 keepers 2 days ago in Jefferson springs 12 of them were males so the big girls haven’t moved up yet. The key that day was big wood (stumps and logs) in 3-5 ft of water. I got out there early started catching alot of small fish so i decide to stay in that spot to see if the bigger ones moved up shallow when the sun came up and warmed the water and they did! Like a light switch I caught 12 keepers in a row all monsters without one small fish during that stretch. Since the females weren’t shallow I’m guessing we have a few good weeks of shallow crappie left. I had better success that day with a 1/16 oz jig with a chartreuse and blue minnow. For some reason they hit that way better than live minnows but I’m sure their appetite has changed again. Good luck hope you load the boat and hope this helped
