My last trip to the lake was pretty good. Fishing with some clients we started in the back of Spring Creek. The water was 56 degrees and super clear starting at the finger coves. We casting shad color shad raps and finesse 1/8oz jigs we struggle to get a bite until we reached the bridge. It was near the bridge where we finally found some bait that a 3.5lb largemouth gulped down a 1/8 shaky head with Zoom green pumpkin trick worm. We fished a little longer in that area without another bite and motored out.
Our next area was in the back of Stewarts Creek. Actually, we started where the creek narrows in the back on the right side. The water temp was 53 and clear as well. My client threw the A-rig and I cast a black and blue 1/8oz Hoppys Jig with a blk/blu Paca Chunk. My client caught one short fish on the a-rig and I caught 1 on my jig and broke the line on another. I had the boat in 8ft while we cast onto the flat just before the small bluff bank. There the flat comes out a few few and then drops off into the channel.
We idled to the back near the boat ramp and fished the rock points and transitions. We caught 4 more and lost a few on the same lures.
Short trip, but fair day. I will be out all tomorrow for my birthday trip(a day late) and will post how it goes. Back to the east and west forks!!!
