I forgot to post that on Christmas I went out for 2 hours in the afternoon. I launched at Jefferson Springs boat ramp and quickly realized that not only was the water up over another foot, but the temperature have gone from 45 degrees to 63 degrees! I couldn’t believe my eyes. My first thought was to try some springs in the short time I had. I went to the back of Spring Creek and fish across from the finger cobes on the mud flat. I tied on a white spinnerbait with two gold Colorado blades(half ounce) and my friend Eric tried a squarebill in red craw color. With the boat sitting in 5 feet we cast into feet 1-3ft. Qe fished up to where the boulders transition into a little bluff on the right. Eric had one good fish on his crankbait that got off and I caught two and lost one on my spinner bait. They were not very big, but it was fun for a few hours. The water colore was muddy, but the springs were just starting to kick out clearbwater. On our way out right before dark we tried the boulder rocks on the right just outside of the channel before you hit the main lake. We continued with our spinnerbaits and crankbaits with no success in 1 to 3 feet of water. However, 5 minutes before we left I had a blow upon a black Hoppy’s 3/8 ounce buzzbait that missed the lure, but it got me thinking I should have been throwing it more. We headed in for a short day. We have since had over an inch more of rain! I’ll be out tomorrow on the pontoon boat with a few guys bass and crappie fishing. Hopefully we find some fish and can post a great report.
