Another good day on the lake! Today I fished the Saturday morning tournament out of Fate Sanders Marina. Fishing for 7-2pm we caught around 15 with 7 keepers! Our best 5 weighed 12lbs. I did not change much from what I have been doing the lake couple weeks.

We started in the back of Spring Creek fishing with spooks and jigs. Fishing rocks near the bank the jig produced a few short fish and the spook boated 3 keepers and several short fish. The water was 52-54, a little cooler than the other day, but still warm enough to keep them active. After 3 hours we made a move into the mouth of Fall Creek…45 degrees! We took a few cast and loaded up to our next spot. I fished a couple areas in the east and west fork with no luck except for a 16.5″ smallmouth at the blown out bridge just in the west fork.

I told my partner “we need to go back where we know active fish are”, so we went back into Spring Creek. We lowered the trolling motor around the finger coves in the back and I started casting my spook again and Trey tried a red eye shad rattle trap. The next 30min-1hr we around 10, including 4 more keepers. They went into a feeding frenzy and every few cast we were reeling one in or getting strikes(I have about 10 on my spook….they were just coming up and whacking the bait). With 30 minutes left the bite died off and we headed to the weigh in.

I think we finished 5th. There was another 12.5lb bag, 13lb, 15lb and 16.5(including a 6.5lb). Fun day on the water. The warmer weather this week will increase the activity even more!

Great outing! I should’ve stayed way back in Spring Creek myself. Caught 6 LM, but only one keeper (3 lber.) Had several white bass and yellow bellies.

Fished the fluke with little success. Everything I caught was on an X-Rap, copper colored.

Brian I haven’t finished Spring Creek much. Especially this time of year when the water level is lower. Besides staying in the channel is anything in that creek you look out for in certain areas as far as water depth? I consider myself a pretty cautious boater so hopefully I’ll be alright. Dakota

No, not really. Just go slow your first run and stay in channel.

Saw you fishing the clay bank while I was fishing from the bank. How deep of water were you fishing?

As happy as I am to hear about your day, I must admit, it comes with some bitterness. I went out from 1:00-4:30pm, launched from Jefferson Spring and fished just about everything from there to the bluff wall in Spring Creek with ZERO bites! 😡 Funny thing is, days like that just make me want to get out there that much more. I guess that’s when you know you have it bad!

The water was much cooler in that area. Pretty sure that had a lot to do with it.
