Well, after a LONG(but great) weekend at the Tn boat show I finally made it out to the lake! I appreciate everyone’s patience.
I spent the day chasing crappie with a regular client and great christian man. We spent 8 hours enjoying fellowship and catching over 50 crappie! However, once again we only ended up with 8 keepers. We fished a variety of Crappie Magnets on 1/8oz jigs(either chartreuse or chrome heads). Black/Chart, green, Zoe’s Glow, Fast Lane, and the NEW Spicy Mustard were the most productive Crappie Magnet colors. At each brushpile and/or drop off we would cast to the shallow side, let bait sink near the bottom and then retrieve slowly.
Each of these spot we caught a bunch….mostly small fish.
Our first spot was the left bank before Spring Creek. We sat in 15ft-20ft and cast into 8ft.
Next we fished just in the mouth of Spring about 100 yards. We focus on the right creek channel drop.
Then we fished the rock bluff/point at the mouth of Fall Creek and the river channel. Kept the boat in 20ft and cast into 8ft.
The next green channel marker buoy was a productive area with a several keepers from way up on the flat in 4ft.
We made a long run up the river past Jefferson Pike bridge. We stopped on the 2nd big flat on your left. Fishing around the PVC pole we caught several more of our keepers there.
That was pretty much it for the day. The water temperature was 47 degrees near Fate Sanders and muddy and 50 degrees in the river with great 1.5ft clarity. It was pleasantly warm in the morning, but by 3pm we were numb!!! I am so ready for spring! I will be out tomorrow for bass in the afternoon. Hope we catch 50 for those…lol!!!!
