Can anybody identify this fish? I caught it Saturday morning on the bank across from the Fate Sanders boat slips on a crawdad crankbait. It fought like a bear but I have no idea what it is. Thanks! Roy

That would be my guess as well.

I can go with that. Looked at some pics on google and seems to be correct. I had absolutely no idea what it could be when I got it to the boat but was curious. Thanks for the info guys!

Now you need a bass in the band.

    7 steps to identify a drum…
    1 – fish for smallmouth
    2 – get a monster strike – bump – SLAM!
3 – start fighting it [while assuming it’s going to be a monster smallie!]
4 – wait for the fish to start swimming deeper
    5 – see a quick flash of purple/gray
    6 – feel a sinking feeling
7 – spend too much time unhooking that nasty thing
