    Hey Brian,

I had an idea and I figured this would be a good place to ask it and get other members feedback as well, but I was wondering if you ever do anything for vets or kids? I would gladly take out a kid wanting to learn to fish with a parent or a vet. I know this would take some organization and I would gladly work with you and others to put something like it together. I know there are many members here with boats and I just thought it would be something cool to do to help get kids maybe started on fishing or taking out our vets that would like to go out. It would obviously have no cost attached to it. I don’t know what kind of crowd we would get or how much interest, but either way I thought it would be a cool idea if we had enough members that wanted to participate. It would help get others out on the water that might not have the means to do so or getting kids into fishing. You may already do something similar to this and I just don’t know about it or it might be a dumb idea. 🙂

Let me know your thoughts and others feel free to chime in as well.

I have a pontoon, so make sure the Lazy Kid or Vet hooks up with me lol… Im all about just pulling over a Brush Pile or in a cove and anchor down… Throw my lines out and watch the Bobber, or tight line.. If I catch a fish that’s a Bonus, If I don’t catch anything no biggy… As long as I have Fun and Relax its well worth my Trip….

Sounds like a great idea! I did not do a tournament this spring because of the time I would want to put in. Maybe end of summer?

On May 9, 2015 I participated in the annual Easter Seals Youth Fishing Tournament for handicapped kids on Percy Priest Lake out of the YMCA Camp Smith Springs boat dock. These kids really enjoy going fishing. I have the contact info for the tournament Director at Easter Seals, if any members are interested in participating next year or in the future, just call me at (417) 682-1948. That said, I believe it would be nice to plan another youth fishing tournament say in early June just after school ends for the Summer for economically disadvantage kids normally not able to afford fishing. ( Maybe we could work with Big Brother and Big Sisters of Nashville or the Boys and Girls Clubs of Nashville on this youth tournament) Also, a separate fishing tournament for all vets currently serving or that have served in the past should be scheduled for about 10 days before Memorial Day. I also, am willing to help organize and plan these last two tournaments.

Let me have some feedback and let’s see if there is enough interest among members to actual sponsor either a youth or vets fishing tournament or both.

I have several friends that own businesses that I am confident would help sponsor. If we all(or a few) help lead I can help promote through Tennessean. Bass Pro, etc.
