I love fishing buzz baits but have never tried the Fluke. Looking for tips and techniques – where, when, hook size, etc. Thanks very much.

No one better to explain this then the Flukemaster himself. This guy posts some very good, very educational videos. Check it out.

I use the Super Fluke in White Pearl with a 3/0 wide gap hook. Bring the hook through the head and then pierce the back and skin hook the tip. Best conditions are cloudy days and when fish are schooling. Mornings and evenings seem most productive. If you see schools of fish feeding on the surface, they almost cannot resist a fluke thrown in their direction. A giving rod tip helps provide the fluke more action. Short pauses between jerks work for my retrieve.

It’s important to keep the point of the hook lipped inside the fluke or the fish will ignore.

Of course the smaller line test, the better action and less chance of fish getting spooked. But it takes a rather robust hook set to stick the fish, so I use a 12 or 14lb test.

Another caveat is to make sure the fluke is straight. I usually straighten out a new bag by rebagging them alternating back to back and belly to belly.

    Degaman.
Do you fish the fluke on the surface? Or sub surface? Or is it situational?
    Thanks. J
