Friday afternoon/early evening May 8
Fished 5-9:30. First stop was the hump across from Bryant’s Grove ramp. I was throwing a pearl colored Deep Little N crankbait and got nothing. Partner caught a hybrid about 12-13 inches on a shaky head with plum colored finesse worm in about 7ft on the channel side of the hump. Headed on down lake to Pear Island, the one Brian has been catching fish on the north side just before Hobson Pike bridge. Nothing at all. Tried shaky head, crankbait, buzzbait, and texas rigged worm. Tried casting into 3-4 ft. then moved out a little to cast into 6-8. Nada. Moved over to the pocket on the right just before the bridge and partner picked up 3 small LM on his plum colored finesse worm he caught the hybrid on earlier. None measured but were still fun. He caught em on the rip rap about 5 ft. deep. Headed back upstream and fished the main point on the right at the mouth of Stewarts Creek. Fished down that bank to just before ski cove and turned around and fished it again headed back towards the ramp. I got a LM that barely measured at 15 1/8″ on a white 3/8 oz. hawg buzz just before dark. He nailed after about 3 cranks of the reel in 2-3 ft. of water, not far off the bank. Partner picked up 2 more LM after dark. They almost measured at 14 and 14 1/2. He got em on a dark purple colored brush hog, texas rigged, in 5-6 ft. Then as we were just about to leave, he picks up what we guessed to be 7-8 lb flathead cat on his brush hog!! Almost kept him, but he decided to release. Wished we had had a better trip, but it’s better than zeroing
