It’s good to know fish are finally moving into their pre-spawn patterns on Priest. We put in at 3 pm yesterday afternoon and fished until 7 pm. At the first spot on the 4th cast I lit into what I knew was a toad. The new Duckett Ghost bent nearly double. I finally got the fish into view and I knew I had my personal best on the line. Realizing there was no net in the boat made the situation a little hairy to say the least. I finally got the fish to the boat and the moment of truth came…was my partner going to have to doggy paddle back to the ramp because he missed the lip. 😀 Well, he performed flawlessly which meant he would stay dry for a while longer. When the fish hit the scales, she was 6 lbs 2 ounces.

We trolled on down the bank and BOOM, the Duckett loaded up again. This felt like a bigger fish than the 6.2…which had me a little excited. Once I got the fish to the boat, I realized that wasn’t the case…there was a 2 lbs 6 ounce smallmouth on the line. I ended up catching 6 more with 1 being a 2.8 largemouth. The others were in the 1.5 range. All of the action came on one bait and one location. We motored around from spot to spot, but nothing would bite, so we finished at our starting spot and caught 3 more of the 7.

Oh and how do you like the duckett ghost? I have held some at academy and they felt great but I want to know how they preform on the water.

Absolutely love it! Great sensitivity and enough backbone to handle most anything I’m going to catch.

I handle a couple of them at the boat show earlier in the year and they really made me regret getting my Denali Kovert that I had recently purchase… 🙁
