I had a guy do some work on my boat and, among other things, he installed a new fish finder up front with the transducer mounted on the trolling motor. Now the direction indicator on the motor is totally screwed up and the motor will barely move the boat with a fully charged battery. The motor came with the boat in ’96 (OMC brand?). Any ideas on what is going wrong?

It’s probably not what’s wrong with yours, but my last trolling motor had the same symptoms until it died completely. Finds out the seal was compromised, and water leaked into the gear housing.

I’ve had water in my units several times over the years. It acts like it’s fine….then doesn’t work…then it fine…..then shuts down for good.
