This is something that I have recently got into, and it’s been a lot a fun. I’m sure there are several people on these boards that do the same thing. If so, post some of your finest creations! In the meantime, here are some that I have created.

I may have to ask you a few questions if you don’t mind. I poured about 150 arkie jigs in 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2. I have just not decided how to tie the skirts yet. I am thinking of tying some with living rubber and silicone mixed in for times I am on a big fish lake or the TN river. But I want some with just silicone for lakes like Priest. Are yours hand tied or do you use the skirt tool for the silicone? Where do you buy your material from? Thanks!

Not a problem, I’m happy to help. I’ve tried it both ways. I started with a Skirts Unlimited skirt making kit and that definitely served it’s suppose. You could make more than adequate jig skirts with the tools provided in that kit. However, I recently got a vise and some paddle wire (24 gauge) and I’m enjoying making jigs with this setup a lot more. I the isn’t anything special either, it was a $15 cheapo from lurepartsonline.com I believe. And yes, I’ll hand tie jig skirts comprised of rubber, silicon and/or a combination of the two. It really just depends on the particular action/color I want. As for the skirt material, I’ve bought it from several different places online: lurepartsonline, tacklewarehouse, livingrubber, etc.

    Hope this helps!
