I’ve been at the fishing show all weekend, but heard it was tough today. I’ll be our monday all day for crappie and half of tuesday for bass and will post how it goes.

It was tough for me today.

I am coaching little league this year and we had try-outs so I was able to get away to the lake until 1:45. Fishing from 1:45 – 5:15 my partner and I managed to catch 3 bass, 2 of which were keepers (about 16″ each). We started off fishing a-rigs along windy points in the mid-lake. I’m not that comfortable with an a-rig yet–the tournaments I used to fish didn’t allow them but the ones I’m fishing this year do–so I was hoping to gain some confidence. After 2 hours and no bites, we decided to abandon that pattern and take to the comfort of protected bays. (The wind was ridiculous out there today). We managed to catch the biggest keeper on a shaky head along a bluff wall around Long Hunter. The other two fish came nearly back-to-back around 4:30 in about 5ft of water along a rocky back in the same area. All in all it was a tough day. Talked to 2 others at the ramp, we were the only people to catch anything out of who we talked to so that did make us feel better about ourselves. It was really tough out there. Hopefully somebody put a hurtin’ on them somewhere…

Yes it was hard. A friend and I fish the cove on the left just before spring creek. And on up into spring. I was throwing a small square bill Rick Clunn sexy shad color. Caught 3 one nice keeper. Partner started with white spinner bait with white trailer silver Colorado blade. No luck on it so he went to .5oz sexy shad red eye and caught a couple himself. We did get into a couple crappie in spring creek where the tree is hung it front of the bluffs on the left before the cove at Maddux Rd. But the wind was making it very tough. Going to try it again in the morning.

I was at the fishing show yesterday and today also. I have heard it has been tough too. I heard it took 9 pounds to win a tournament lol. Triton, any size to the crappie on that tree. I caught a bunch on that tree a few months ago, but they were 8 inches.

Sounds like a very tough day on the water for sure. I thought it would be with all the wind. Today will be windy to I believe but ya just can’t beat being on the water. Good luck to who all goes. I hope Monday picks back up on some good winter fishing.

I don’t do a whole lot of crappie fishing myself but I caught several off that spot last spring as well haha.

Anyways, I hope Triton was able to find them today. Triton, at what depth where you fishing yesterday (and today)? I tried a little bit of everything yesterday but didn’t really catch anything deeper than 4ft or so.

The ones yesterday were at around 7ft crappie that is. The bass same as you 4ft or less today was even worse partner caught 2 short fish swimming a June bug worm on the rocks on left going into spring creek and I got 1 17.5″ on Kevin vandam red eye. I did loose a real tode shortly after in the second little cut in. Partner is was probly a drum my story is very nice large mouth and yes I’m stickin to it. Didn’t try crappie today. From what I could tell if you wasn’t fighting wind you were not going to caught much. Yea I tried to escape from for a minute. Fellows I have been thinking about that green ribbon idea. And it seems to me once the word of that gets public if people start paying attention and see different boats with ribbons on the same spot then they will know we have something there worth fishing and there goes that hole. And keep loosing them over time. Just my thoughts. Any more???
