Fate Sanders should finally be open tomorrow. I was going to put in there today, but heard they were breaking the ice so they could have the Saturday morning tournament tomorrow. Instead, I met a guide of mine and a friend of his at Jefferson Springs. We headed back to Spring Creek at the finger coves, water was 52-54. First cast on my Spook 4.0 Electric Blue, BOOM…..2 pounder. About 5 cast later, BOOM…. another 2lb! I fished with my spook a little longer with no strikes and then picked up my Crappie Magnet(we were trying to get some meat for a fish fry). Casting a chartreuse/white Magnet on 1/16oz jig, we caught over 40 crappie the next 4 hours!!!! We stayed in the back and cast to the opposite side where all the fishermen on the bank were and loaded the boat! There were also tons of yellow bass and white bass that made it into our boat as well. Around lunch we headed back and called it very successful day….can’t wait to get back out!

P.S. In the next few weeks I will be adding Crappie Magnet lures to my Tackle Shop! I’ll have around 12 of my favorite colors Magnets, different color jigs at different weights and more!

*****If you would like to purchase the lures used on this trip, check out Brian’s Tackle Shop here:

Nice crappie. About a month ago I caught 16 keepers in 2 hours there. About 40 like you said.

Impressive day, Brian. I went to Spring Creek on Saturday and the water was so muddy, 3″ of visibility would probably be a generous estimate! It was a shame b/c it ended up being a pretty terrible day otherwise. I fished various places from Spring Creek to the West/East Fork split with no luck 😕 . I wasn’t even able to locate any significant baitfish/shad schools. Oh well, at least it was a b-e-a-utiful day out (for this time of year anyhow).

Brian, what depth (boat and casting) were you getting those crappie, white and yellow bass in?

If it was at the Jefferson Spring launch area, it very well could have been. If you saw my fishing partner below it definitely was me!
