Today I went out with one of my regular clients the Hagman. We had a fun day catching over 60 crappie, including 16 keepers!

The warm temperature was enough, but with each spot we fished coughing up crappie it couldn’t have been any better.

We started on the left bank just before the mouth of Spring Creek. The water color was about 6″ clarity at 47 degrees. I kept the boat in 10ft-15ft near brushpiles while we tight lined minnows 2ft off the bottom. I also cast a 1/8oz Crappie Magnet with “Zoe’s Glow” Magnet. We caught around 15 there with 4 keepers.

Next we turned into Spring creek and fished just inside the mouth in 15ft…same lures. I had a few trees we fished, but mostly fished the channel drop off. There we cuaght a bunch more short fish and 4 more keepers.

Our next and best spot was just up from Spring and Fall Creek at the next green channel buoy. We stayed around the buoy in 18ft-20ft and cast towards the flat where this is wood in 10ft. Same lure technique except I changed to a “wizards glow” magnet. We probably caught 20 there with 6 keepers. The key with the jig was to let it sink to the bottom then retrieve SLOWLY.

We motored down lake and fished 2 trees near the Weakley lane bridge and caught several more in 13ft-16ft.

We ended at the bluff just pass stewards creek boat ramp. Fishing treed along point across from the bluff we cuaght several more shorts and keepers in 12ft.

The water temperature never really changed, but the water was clearer the further we went up lake. Great day!
