Well, what an afternoon! BCGS guide, Justin Armstead, and I waiting for the rain to end and then finished some work on the center console boat before we headed out. We fished from 2-5pm. At Fate Sanders the water clarity half of clarity was 42 degrees.

We headed straight into Fall Creek where I ended my last successful trip. We were going to crappie fish, but we ran out of time to do both. With my boat being down still due to fiberglass work we decided to take Justin’s. We crossed the flat across from the boat ramp where it’s very shallow….. less than 1 foot. The water clarity was 2.5 to 3 ft and 49 to 51 degrees. The first two hours all we did was stay in the main channel from 4 – 8 feet of water and cast our Yum Alabama rigs, 1/2oz white chatterbaits, and white H2O jerkbaits. We stayed in the middle all the way down the first stretch and then took a right to the spring in the rocks. After the spring we didn’t receive any other bite, but in between the spring and the mouth we were catching fish every other cast! We didnt have any big fish, probably best 5 keepers for 11 lbs. However, we did have a ball catching 41 during this time. We focused on every stump or lay down near the channel, but we did catch a few off the boulder rocks along the channel bend. We had to keep our baits down 4 to 6 feet of water where they were feeding.

With an hour left we cruised into Spring Creek all the way to the back. The water was 55 degrees with 1 foot visibility across from the finger coves. We tried a sexy shad Heddon spook and Alabama Rig along the flat and missed one nice three pounder on the spook. Once we reached the feeder creek we went back 50 yards staying in the middle 4-8ft. We caught 12 more short bass on 3/16 and 1/8 and shaky heads. We were using Zoom trick worms in red bug color pattern fished slowly across the bottom. For 3 hours we couldn’t have asked for a more action-packed trip. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come!
