Last week I spent a few days on Old Hickory. Saturday I had a blast catching several big fish on the A-rig. Since then I have been under the weather and trying to gain my strength back. I planned on going out today to get a report on Priest, instead I sent one of my guides out to see what the crappie were doing. Here are his results:
Total 25 crappie, including 1 keeper!
The water temperature was 47 throughout the lake with a murky color around Fate Sanders and clearer near the forks. He fished with 1/8oz Crappie Magnets Jig with a couple NEW Crappie Magnet colors! One is a barf green color with blue flakes and the other was purple/pink/and black. He fished the big flat on the left after you pass Lamar Hill. He kept his boat in the channel 15-22ft and cast up onto the flat starting at around 8ft. Then we would let the jig sink for several seconds before retrieving slowly with pops every few seconds. There he caught 6-7 crappie.
He also fished near the green buoy just up from the Spring and Fall creek intersection. Same depth and lures 6-7 more.
Next he fished the stretch before Jefferson Spring on the right. Same depth and lures 6-7 more.
Lastly, He fished around the green buoys and PVC poles past the Jefferson Pike Bridge with 6-7 more.
A lot of number, tough day on the keepers! Hope this helps. If I feel better I will be out Thursday or Friday to get a report.
