Great morning on the lake from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Fishing with two of my guides we fished the exact same pattern as my previous day on Saturday. We went to the back of Spring Creek and got a ton of bites(we caught around 15 with 5 keepers for 13-14lbs). So I don’t have to rewrite everything please look at Jan 2 report for what we did today.
The only difference today was that I threw an Alabama Rig almost all day while my two guides fished Heddon spooks(red/white and chart/white) They cast their spooks up to the rocks in 2 to 4 feet of water while I would throw out in 4 foot and bring it back to the boat in deeper depths. I made sure we were sitting in 8 to 10 feet. Water temperature in the back was 54 to 55 degrees with one and a half foot visibility and the main channel was muddy with 50-51 degrees. We did crappie fish the laydowns throughout Spring Creek and never had a bite. Our hands were freezing trying to hold the spinning rods so after a while we went back to bass fishing where we were moving around more. I wanted to go up into the river and crappie fish, but it was way too muddy. I do know that there are a lot of crappie being caught at the mouth of Stewarts Creek in brushpiles in 8 16 feet of water. It was an awesome morning just like on Saturday. Hopefully next time out I can go up in the river and see how the bite is up there or maybe down lake with a jerkbait.
