After a week of freezing temperatures and not being able to make it out I decided to give it a try from 12:30 to 2:30 today. It wasn’t a complete waste, but it wasn’t a typical fishing trip either. I put in at Mona where I had to break the ice for 25 minutes before I could get the boat in. Once I got the boat in I realized the plug was not in and I had to pull the boat back out. LOL. The water was 36 degrees with 8-10 foot visibility! So, with plans of just playing around a little bit I start casting a green pumpkin shaky head around the rocks on the bends. After 20 minutes without a bite I pulled up the trolling motor and motored through a mile of ice slowly to the 840 bridge. They’re I fishes for 35-40 minutes without any action casting my shaky head and Alabama Rig. I decided to go back up towards the ramp and stopped at a few bluffs that I could reach without ice. No bites there and I headed in to watch the Titans win their first playoff game!
