Yesterday I fished a 6 hour trip for crappie. The bite was pretty good compared to some of the previous trips in the last few weeks. We could have had around 20 keepers, but lost several swinging in or fighting to the boat. All of the fish came on live minnows fished 2 to 3 feet off the bottom. We caught most of our fish in brush piles in 12 to 16 feet of water.
Some areas that were productive were near the Youth Incorporated camp, the flat in front of Hong Kong Island, in front of Long Hunter State Park, and the southside of Mousetail Island.
Hopefully we see more trips like these in the near future. Next week I’ll be out for a full-day trip with the Hagman. Hopefully we can get a big stringer!
