The last two nights on old hickory have been fair. Sunday evening I put in at Cedar Creek Marina and fished from 5-830pm. I started in the back of Cedar Creek, there was bait everywhere and bass busting periodically. I was in 1-3ft of water casting in even shallower water. Casting popper and rattle traps….nada. next I went over to Long Branch boat ramp to the bridge in the back. Casting same lures around the bridge and the flat beyond the brige, we had a few blow ups with no hook ups. My lost spot was th back of Little Creek. We fished with poppers, buzzbaits and plastic worms from the back rip rap bank up 300 yards to the bridge. I caught 2 there. One on keeper on the rip rap with a black buzzbait. The boat was in 4-5ft, casting to the bank. The second fish came on a crappie magnet underneath the bridge. There were bait being ambushed by bass that would not touch my bass lures, so I whipped a pearl crappie magnet in and BOOM! That was all the action that night.

Last night I put in a Long Branch at 530pm and fished until dark. There were no specific spots we fished, just ledges on main channel. We stopped and fished main lake ledge near Cages Bend. Casting 10″ plum worms and green pumpkin jigs in 6 ft and dragging into 12ft over logs we caught 2 keepers and missed 2. We scanned loolong for bass staging on the ledge and then would stop and cast to them. I tired a 5″ spoon and and swimbait with no takers.

Next we fished some trees in 10ft near the power lines up lake from Cedar Creek. Casting same lures we caught 2 more keepers there. The current was ripping through the channel(tva wad pulling 12,000) and when we could get our bait to swim into or in front if the tree we would get a bite!

While fishing in the channel we noticed some schooling bass around some docks up on the bank from where we were. We ran over there and starred casting Spro crankbaits and swimbaits. The boat was in 8-10ft, casting into 2. We caught 3, including 1 keeper and lost 2 around the 3 lb class:( I caught mine reeling my 4″ Storm Wide Eye swimbait in the bait and slow rolling it back or pumping it back to boat.

Our last area was right at Long Branch, fishing the grass line with a Spro black/blue frog. In 20 minutes we 2 caught, including one decent keeper.

Can’t wait to get out on OH again….love it out there! I was supposed to be out all day Thursday there, but will be out of town at a funeral. Hopefully when I get back.
