Today we were in search for crappie. The crappie fishing has been very good the last few weeks, but today was a little tougher. Although we ended up with 18 keepers, we had to fish a lot of trees to catch those. Most days I only need to fish 4-8 brushpiles to catch a bunch of fish, today I bet we fished over 15! The brushpiles that produced the most crappie were in 10ft-14ft, instead of the 16ft-20ft, that has been producing the last few weeks. Up lake around Fate Sanders, Stewarts Creek, and Jones Mill cove have been holding a lot of crappie. The key is to find the brush! Using your depth finder to find brush and your GPS to save brush is essential to summer crappie success! Most of our fish were caught tight lining medium tuffys, but we did catch several keepers on Crappie Magnets…..black/chartreuse with an 1/4 oz Crappie Magnet jig. If you do not know where brush is, look at you Percy Priest Map and find the TRWA fish attractor buoys, they are holding fish right now too.
