Thursday I had a last minute reschedule on the pontoon and decided to take her out for some bass hunting. I wanted to fish a few different spots so I started at the first cut through directly in the center and fished the left bank near the green channel buoy back towards Fate Sanders. The white bass were going crazy all around me in 6ft-8ft, but I wanted to focus on the largemouths. Sitting in 20ft and casting into 8ft-10ft I dragged my 3/8oz Texas red shad 100 yards. I had one good bite that did not hang on.

I motored across the Sister Cove channel to the green channel buoy and started fishing the flat. Sitting in 14ft-18ft and casting into 8ft with my worm I had zero bites after 30 minutes.

Behind Hong Kong Island I fished the long point that comes out on the left side. Sitting in 15ft and casting into 10ft on top of the point dragging across the boulder rocks. I had another good bite that did not commit. There were 3 different schools of white bass feeding all around me with three boats casting to them. I moved off the point to the little cove on the right. Sitting in 8ft and casting into 5ft to the boulders that surround the cove I fished 50 yards without a bite. Getting frustrated I pulled the trolling motor up.

I motored to Jones Mill and started casting to the long point were it meets the bluff wall. Right off the bat I had a good bite and missed it. I fished down the ledge towards the green buoy and had 2 more bites with my worm while sitting in 35ft and casting into 8ft and dragging down the ledge.

I had to get back to the dock for my second trip. I pulled the trolling motor up, tucked my tail, and drove back to the dock slowly.

The next couple days I’m going to try and get out so I can put up a catching report. I am out for blood.

All and all, sorry day! Eager to get out again.

Side note —– BCGS guide, Trey Neal, fished yesterday morning and had another good limit before 7am on the left point of Lamar Hill with soft plastics!

Yea, I don’t care how much you/we know about fishing or the lake…..it happens. However, it makes whacking them that much better!

I saw Trey over there on Friday morning. I did not realize he had already been catching them before I got there. He came back to Lamar as I was leaving and I pulled over and told them I had caught two on a lipless crank. LOL Guess they didn’t need my advice! I’m hitting the lake in the morning for crappie. Sure hope I can find a few.

There are tons of crappie around the youth camp and Pooles Knob, but TONS of short crappie!
